When the King Shows Up

Jesus’ teaching on the Kingdom culminates with a king on a cross.

Jesus talked about the Kingdom of God more than any other topic, and yet so few of us think much about it on a daily basis. Join us in this series as we’ll walk through the Gospel of Luke to see how good the news of the Kingdom truly is!

Jesus began his earthly ministry with a manifesto moment, claiming to be the one who would bring freedom to all who followed him. Let’s talk about the kind of freedom Jesus came to bring.

Human relationships are a full-contact sport. We’re bound to experience hurt and even harm as we navigate life in relationship with others. Thankfully, Jesus offers us wisdom to help us remain whole and free in the midst of relational pain.

The condition of our heart determines everything else about our lives. This truth is embodied in our physiology and the key to our mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Jesus describes a healthy heart as good soil. Let’s learn how to cultivate the kind of heart where the kingdom can grow.

The Kingdom of God is among us. What does that mean? Salvation is available? That, and so, so much more. Jesus went around demonstrating the arrival of His reign and He has commissioned everyone who follows Him to do the same. What does it look like? In this talk we will learn how to do the “STUFF” Jesus did and anticipate the profound results only He can bring.

The world tells us freedom comes through independence, achievement, and having enough. Jesus tells a different story: the doorway into His Kingdom isn't having it all together, it's recognizing how deeply we need Him.

What's left when we choose to fully follow Jesus? His kingdom doesn't belong to the self-sufficient. It belongs to the humble and the desperate, to those who recognize their need for saving rather than trusting in wealth, status, or achievement.

How we approach the Kingdom of God matters. Taking a contrite humble heart is the key to the Kingdom.
