Scripture:
Matthew 11:28 - Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Last Week Challenge: Last week you were challenged to list the things you are skeptical about regarding the Spirit, faith, the bible, and even church. Did the Lord show you where your experience has influenced your beliefs more than scripture? Did you feel the Lord renewing your mind in any areas?
Summary:
The phrase "spirit filled" will often draw up images or ideas of big crowds with lots of loud worship, emotional moments of joy and power, and supernatural activities like healing and the prophetic. That's great, but what about the majority of my life? Many of us are dating, or have spouses, children, jobs, people who follow us, family who we interact with, etc. Surely the Holy Spirit has something to say about how I live my life in light my relationships, right?
What does it look like to be a spirit filled spouse or parent? Am I doing it wrong if I don't feel love just pouring out of me for my family? Does rest affect how in tune I am with the Lord, or the degree to which the fruit of the Spirit is expressed in my life? I guess the question is, what does it look like to be full of the Spirit and yet have a normal life?
Discussion Questions:
Challenge:
Ask the Lord this week what fruit of the spirit HE would like to develop more in you. Throughout the week, thank God for his Spirit and invite him to grow, change, and develop you in this area. Pay attention to any opportunities you experience to demonstrate or practice producing this fruit of the spirit.
